The vault

History buried deep within me,
scared of the excavation,
I reseal the vault
when unable to continue.

Some contents of my vault
may cause me pain,
constant reexamination
dulls the effect.

Those remaining fragments
lie in increasing fragility,
damaged by years of neglect
I praise their near destruction.

The treasures I wish to exhume
and cherish in my future years,
the reason for my quest,
becoming more visible now.

The strength within me grows,
the day of excavation
does not yet have a date,
but one shall come.
