With gratitude

In these in-between days
with no official names,
when there is a kind of pause.
We cannot fully return
to the normalness of every day,
but the days of being consumed
by celebration and tradition
have themselves taken holiday,
I looked for a place to be.

I wandered into your world,
the one I visit by invitation
a brief stay, then I leave.
I knew that there was more
and promised myself to linger
when time allowed.

Dragged willingly by your words,
reluctant to leave this place
that spoke to me,
to write of its existence,
I wrenched myself away.
I know I will return.
Exploration of the whole
a necessity to me.
